Daniel Rivkin- Senior Adviser
Daniel Rivkin is an international media executive, who has worked in some 70 countries as a journalist, producer, bureau chief, and global product manager for Reuters, and then as a general manager and corporate communications consultant for governments and some of the world’s largest companies, NGOs and international agencies.
Notable assignments in his 20 years overseas included covering the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the death of Princess Diana as Paris Bureau Chief for Reuters TV, and establishing an outsource business for Reuters in Cairo, eventually becoming general manager of Egypt’s largest independent TV news production company.
Since returning to Michigan, he has worked with Detroit Venture Partners, Ford/Team Detroit, Strategic Staffing Solutions and Artrain/The Arts Alliance locally, while also maintaining international communications production and consulting assignments across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Civic involvement includes board membership of Planned Parenthood of Michigan and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, the Roosevelt Institute and the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
Currently, he leads communications for the Center for International Reproductive Health Training, based at U-M, focused on family planning and reproductive health curricula at African universities.
Christian Cito Cirhigiri – Founder
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Christian is a peace journalist and youth advocate with six years’ experience leading and supporting youth empowerment projects in DR Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Co-founder of Bukavu Youth Action Center, a non-profit based in eastern Congo promoting youth leadership through arts and communication , Christian is a 2014 fellow of President Obama’s Young African Leadership Initiative(YALI). With a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Community Development from Daystar University in Kenya and a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in the US, Christian is passionate about supporting young people in war-torn countries and helping them achieve their full potential against all odds. Christian’s recent publications include ” Towards coalition building among art-based initiatives for peacebuilding in eastern Congo(2015)” and ” Student movements as agents of societal accountability for ethnic reconciliation: Case studies of Sri Lanka, Burundi and eastern Congo (1996-2016).” Christian currently is a peacebuilding and conflict transformation worker with Justapaz, an abaptist ngo that seeks to promote non-violence through concrete programmes that contribute towards Colombia’s transformation into a just and sustainable peace.
